It’s obvious that most Christians practice many things to deepen their faith. But how can you, as a follower of Christ, move others to also embrace the disciplines of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving this Lent? What can you do as a Christian author?

As a writer yourself, you can do creative ways to observe Lent and spread the good news of the gospels. Here are five things you can do to inspire others to genuinely experience the season of Lent and to prepare for Christ’s coming.

  1.   Write a daily blog reflection.

A blog is always a fruitful Lent devotional. If you’re writing a book, then you could start writing daily journal reflections as this also encourages others to delve deeper into God’s word.

  1.   Host a storytelling session at your local library.

Biblical stories can be the perfect gift this Lenten season. You can relate tales of kindness to kids through book readings of short stories, which can be from the bible or from your own book.

  1.   Hit the share button on social media.

Motivational video clips, pictures of bible verses, images containing meditation practices—these are only some of the many forms of prayer you can share online. Reach out to Christian communities and groups on social media.

  1.   Scribble prayers in your bookmarks.

Prayers are meant to be shared. Write prayers in your bookmarks and send them to friends so they can use them for Bible reading sessions.

  1.   Organize a spiritual reading session in your community.

Plan a bible reading meet-up. You can read the Works of Mercy in Matthew 25:31-46, or the entire Gospel of Mark as a Lenten reflection, then share bible verses and some reflections of your own.
