The 3-day AJC Decatur Book Festival (DBF) recently took place in Decatur, Georgia last September 4 to 6 of 2015.

The DBF is well-known as the biggest indie book festival in the country, where thousands of authors, industry professionals, and festival attendees gather to learn, interact, shop, and have fun at the same time.

As you may have known, we were one of the many exhibitors at the event. In our booth, we had our authors do book signings and sell copies of their books.

Among the many authors who had book signing sessions were Robert Newton, Richard Parnes, Donald Montano, Annetta Dellinger, Cami Onolfo, Shawn Cook, Carla Veiga, and Yolanda Quesada.

It was such a great experience meeting all of these wonderful and talented authors in person! We learned about their life, their books, and what brought them to pursue a career in writing.

Here are a few snippets from the interviews we did with our authors:

The festival was a success, which makes it a solid proof that indie authors can make a name for themselves too, just like those who have published their books the traditional way.

As a self-publishing company, we always want our authors to succeed in this business, which is why we guide them through their publishing journey.

The truth is, in the publishing industry, there is no easy route to success. We believe that as long as authors are proactive about marketing and selling their self-published books, they, too, can attain achievements in their craft.

One of the most proactive ways of marketing books is by joining book fairs and festivals. Through such events, more and more people will learn about an author’s books. Having said that, we are so proud of our authors who were able to sell multiple copies of their books during the 3-day festival!

At the 10th Annual AJC DBF, we had our first Book Donation Drive campaign, in which we were able to collect unsold copies of books from various genres.

After the event, we distributed the donated books to several organizations and institutions, such as public libraries, book clubs, charities, public schools, and many others.

We are so grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of our booth activities, most especially to our first ever Book Donation Drive.

Through the donations made by the kind-hearted people of Atlanta, the recipients of our campaign, especially the children in public schools, are going to have plenty of books to read, enjoy, and learn from, this year.

We very much enjoyed our time at the festival – all thanks to our lovely authors, to our booth visitors, to everyone who bought copies of the books we had on display, and to the kind and generous hearts who donated their books.

We look forward to more book events in the coming months and years! We’re off to Frankfurt this October for the Frankfurt International Book Fair. Exciting! Will you be there too?
